Meet Rod…Rod Crossman was born in South Dakota; raised in upstate New York and now lives in Indiana. He makes his living creating paintings and being Artist in Residence at Indiana Wesleyan University. Although those two vocations are responsible for his working life the last two decades - in the past he also lifeguarded, sacked groceries, did factory work, graphic art and taught High School Art.He and his wife Mary have raised two boys, an English Pointer, English Setter, and three Labs. His boys Barry and Bryan are finally old enough to forgive and forget their dads' obsession with trout which denied them any chance at a normal childhood. Rod taught them how to read water, tie flies, cast a fly rod - All things that have been a serious distraction for them in personal relationships and earning a living. Rods paintings can be seen regularly in many of the best sporting magazines, journals and galleries. His work has been exhibited and collected worldwide including places like the Smithsonian, Chicago Art Institute, Woodson Art Museum, Ward Museum and many others. He has designed Trout and Duck stamps for several states. He likes to paint most about the moments between the action. - His favorite words are "Awe" and "Wonder." - The emotions that lead us into that incredible sense of mystery when we consider the creation. | |
